NEW ASF bogie variant for popular Salmon wagon arrives!

Our latest samples for our Salmon wagon have arrived fitted with our newly tooled ASF bogie. The bogie, introduced in 1998 on two wagons for trials, was rolled out (excuse the pun) across the fleet to increase the speed capabilities of these versatile wagons. Their previous plateback bogies limited them to a maximum speed of 50mph which was later reduced to 40mph due to various 'hot box' incidents.

As national rail became a faster network, a solution was needed to increase the speed of these wagons. The trial of the first two wagons was a success so the fleet was converted to the roller bearing bogie and speed increased to 60mph.

These wagons have seen various changes of the years, however in there most basic form, they can still be seen across the network carrying track panels and rail for permanent way roles.
